IDEA

We speak of a ritual when the same actions are done in the same way every time.

Rituals can be traditions of communities (like a handshake as a hello) or part of religios ceremonies (like a wedding ritual). Rituals are characterized, but not defined, by formalism, traditionalism, invariance, rule-governance, sacral symbolism, and performance.

Rituals help strengthen a feeling of togetherness and belonging. They can have a spiritual aspect to them and can help form a structure and reliability for a group of people.
